In a new write-up just completed today, JA shows how evidence for the mail order rifle was clearly fabricated. Highlights include:
* Records indicating Oswald never left Jaggars-Chiles-Stovall the morning of 3/12/63 to travel several miles to buy and mail the magic Postal money order that was never endorsed or date stamped by a bank or other financial institution.
* Proof that the FBI for nearly a week (after allegedly analyzing the Oswald/Hidell handwriting on a Klein's order form) couldn't decide whether the gun cost $21.95, $12.78, or $21.45.
* Proof that the FBI fabricated and often backdated numerous reports and other "evidence" about the alleged payment for the weapon that allegedly killed JFK. Original Klein's microfilm and the original postal money order disappeared while in FBI custody.
* Real evidence that Dallas postal inspector/FBI informant Harry Holmes was intimately involved in fabricating evidence for the mail order rifle.

Someone asked why they wouldn't use a doppleganger to write the Money Order if they already had the elaborate doubles program in place. This is actually a good question.
I would suggest it was because the one that was setting up the other probably had different handwriting. I would guess they were trapped by the patsy having too many handwriting samples that were out there to be compared.
Oh what a tangled web we weave...

Someone should wrap this up in a nicely tight nit package, and send it off to Stephen King.

Albert,
On Labor Day weekend 1963, someone resembling "LEE OSWALD" visited Fidel Castro's best American friend and gunrunner Robert McKeown and tried to buy a rifle to kill JFK but failed to seal the deal. Who was that masked man????

I'd take a guess that it was CIA operative Lee Harvey Oswald setting up Harvey. Probably the same guy witnessed by genuine doubles witness Ralph Yates.
This creates problems with the alleged March order of the Carcano. Were the plotters upping the ante on the already-bought Carcano and hoping for a better connection to Castro or was the Carcano never in 'Oswald's' possession at all?

Could you cite the source of this information, and who this someone is that resembles Lee? On Labor Day weekend 1963 which would be early September, they were reporting on him as he was still in New Orleans.

Good point Scott.
As this is what sold King on the Oswald did it angle.
You know who was the salesman: Gary Mack.

Exactly!! The source of the info is the sworn secret HSCA testimony of Robert McKeown, who was, at the time he met "Oswald", still on parole for a conviction of running guns illegally to Fidel Castro. He was also a close friend of Castro's. McKeown did not want to testify, and had to be granted immunity before doing so. You can read his testimony here:
Had "Lee Oswald" been able to purchase a rifle from Castro's personal friend and gun supplier, is there any doubt that the weapon would have shown up on the sixth floor of the Book Depository?

Which then begs the question if the Klein's order was real and was made in March what would they have done with that?

I think you guys might have missed the joke. Someone DID send this off to Stephen King. It's gonna be a mini-series starring James DeFranco?
"All that is necessary for tyranny to succeed is for good men to do nothing." (unknown)
James Tracy: "There is sometimes an undue amount of paranoia among some conspiracy researchers that can contribute to flawed observations and analysis."
Gary Cornwell (Dept. Chief Counsel HSCA): "A fact merely marks the point at which we have agreed to let investigation cease."
Alan Ford: "Just because you believe it, that doesn't make it so."
