Interesting! I have to read that interview now that you mention it. I have a great deal of respect for Truman Capote. If he said he knew all those people, I believe it. The interview is at the following link, in case anyone else is interested in reading it.

Hey, as long as we're gossiping with each other........ don't forget the infamous 'La Cote Basque, 1965' piece in Esquire from 1975. Oh, Lordy !!!

Yes, Truman delighted in poking fun at the rich and famous. He was sued by Gore Vidal for repeating a story from Lee Radziwill that Gore behaved so badly at a party given at the White House that he was thrown out. He also said that 70 to 80% of Lee's and Jackie's friends were homosexuals. Truman was Lee Radziwill's number one confidant

Although Jim's assessment of all this is rather mundane, your take is more..... romantic, as far as killers go. Ever read 'Then It All Came Down", Truman Capote's interview with Bobby Beausoleil in San Quentin, 1973? After telling Bobby that he knew Sirhan, Oswald, RFK & JFK, as well as knowing four out of the five Cielo Drive victims, Bobby Beausoleil responded, "You know what I'd say? I'd say you're not such a lucky guy to know".

Interesting! I have to read that interview now that you mention it. I have a great deal of respect for Truman Capote. If he said he knew all those people, I believe it. The interview is at the following link, in case anyone else is interested in reading it.

If you read the biography Capote, by Gerald Clarke, you'll find people who knew Capote testifying to his penchant for claiming famous persons as his lovers, including...Albert Camus. Possessing fame, Truman was still fame-hungry, an unreliable narrator.

William, I'm posting below material I recently posted on Education Forum's JFK Debate Chaos/Manson thread. Hope no one is affronted. I'm wondering what people will find in the resemblance between the race apocalypse as imagined by Krishna Venta and by Manson. I added underlining to a significant passage.

+++

Interested parties may investigate the history of Christ-emulating California cult leader Krishna Venta, an influence on Manson. This influence isn't mentioned much in Manson studies.

I excerpted the statement below from the linked article. If any errors, make your own examination and report on
who and what brought Manson and the deceased KV's movement together:

But the most notable inter-cult connection was with another Jesus-claimant, long after Krishna Venta was assassinated. In 1968, Charles Manson and his coterie resided for several months at the Fountain of the World; Manson even made an unsuccessful takeover bid. When that failed and he was booted from the commune, he moved his group to nearby Spahn Movie Ranch, and the rest is history.

https://www.skepticink.com/lateraltruth/...ox-canyon/[/URL]

Krishna Venta had been more materially successful than Manson, and enjoyed good press as a peacenik eccentric when he and his followers made barefoot visits to eastern cities. The cult had a comely little compound in Box Canyon, and a hierarchy of bishops and veil-wearing sisters. Krishna Venta is said to have been mentored by Father Divine, who tutored Jim Jones. Krishna Venta died in a 1958 suicide bombing by two former followers upset by his appropriation of their wives. His cult persevered into the age of Manson.

Here's a distillation of Krishna Venta's apocalyptic vision. Not only is it similar to Manson's - it's similar to J. Edgar Hoover's:

Venta's version was well adapted to the Cold-War climate of the times. The coming cataclysm would be a racially motivated civil war in the West, particularly America, where the blacks would rise up and bloodily vanquish the whites, with aid from Russia; and then the traitorous Russians would turn around and conquer the blacks, and try to take over the world. But then Krishna's followers, after spending the war tucked snugly away in a place of safety, would re-emerge, conquer the Russians, and build a shining new world of equality, justice, and peace, with Krishna Venta in his rightful place as world messiah.

Thanks for the heads-up on Billy Joe Lord, Tom.

For the readership: Lord was questioned because he bunked with Oswald aboard the ship Oz took on his defection trip. Later in life, Lord complained of being harassed by men dropping GHW Bush's name who apparently believed Lord held some damaging information.

Some oddly prescient thoughts about today's Globalism and New World Order from the Mansonoids:

"Sympathy for the Devil, the Greening of Charles Manson" is the title of a chapter in a book called No Success Like Failure, by Ivan Solotaroff, c.1994
pg157
.... All governments were to become one, with headquarters in China, and all monetary systems reduced to one, placed on computers, so that the screens would read out Manson's name: 666. ...
(Family member Sandra)Goode: "As long as he is held down, until he is given his will to set policy for survival on an international, environmental global order, there is no hope, no order, no love. Just the ghoul your guilt-fear made him into."

Helter Skelter, by Vince Bugliosi, c. 1994(25th anniversary edition) pg499
That same year(1986) he(Manson) wrote President Ronald Reagan at the White House... ...he told Reagan: "I'm the last guy in line but I've got all the thoughts for the balance of order and peace with a one-world government if we are to survive."

Another way in which the Mansonoids were oddly prescient is in the alleged 'Moon Landing Hoax,' which has become a popular internet meme in recent years.

nevalalee.wordpress.com/2017/03/24/the-dark-side-of-the-moon/
The Manson Family murders began with the killing of a man named Gary Hinman, who was taken hostage on July 25, 1969, a day in which the newspapers were filled with accounts of the successful splashdown of Apollo 11. The week before, at the ranch where Manson's followers were living, a woman had remarked: "There's somebody on the moon today." And another replied: "They're faking it."

Both Sandra Goode and Lynn Fromme were obsessed with the environment and started the International People's Court of Retribution; a fictitious terrorist group that would kill CEO's of companies that polluted the earth.

When the family of Dr. Ohta was killed in Santa Cruz in October 1970, the killers left the following message was left on the windshield of the car.
"Today World War III will begin as brought to you by the People of the Free Universe. From this day forward anyone and-or company that misuses the natural environment or destroys same will suffer the penalty of death by the People of the Free Universe. I and my comrades from this day forth will fight until death or freedom against anything or anyone who does not support natural life on this planet, materialism must die or mankind will."

The note was signed by "Knight of Wands, Knight of Cups, Knight of Pentacles and Knight of Swords" figures on Tarot cards, thus mixing the occult with environmentalism. Also mixing the occult with environmentalism was Hitler's priestess Sevitri Devi.

According to the Marie Vigil letters, Dr. Ohta was the one who prescribed the mysterious glasses found at the Tate house. The owner of the glasses was Sierra Club member Robert Linkletter, an organization strongly opposed to the "misuse of the environment." It is interesting to note that a few days before he died Robert attended a prestigious gathering of well-to-do people honoring environmental crusader Alice Tyler. Also attending was Prince Peter of Greece and Denmark, a Nazi sympathizer during World War II.

The combination of the occult with environmentalism is often a tool for fascism.
