A PUBLIC APPEAL TO WALT BROWN: Release Jay Harrison's Archive
#31
Tosh Plumlee Wrote:Let me get something straight right now in reference to Captain Edward G Seiwell of the Fourth Army Dallas Texas. Jay Harrison was the only researcher who talked with Seiwell after I gave him his location when I found him living in Dallas with his daughter. After, I had located him after many years of searching, I went and talked to him (Seiwell) and asked him if it was OK for Jay to interview him.

I also asked him if any other researchers had contacted him in the past years. His answer was; NO. I asked him if Jim Marrs had contacted him. His answer NO ... and Peter I ask if you had contacted him... again NO. I asked if Larry Hancock had contacted him again, NO. AND TOO, I asked if anyone from Oliver Stone had contacted him... again NO. Now I had told all these people about him and where he could be found. NADA. Now in my view there was no follow up from anybody after I gave them the information to confirm various matters concerning activities of the 4th Army Dallas, Love Field. To me that research was not done or followed up on...If there was any type of follow up or research it was very limited ... it was flat lazy sloopy follow up work at best. Or it could have been that nobody believed me, including you and Jim...The only one who did believe me and did detail follow up work was JAY HARRISON..

Jay Harrison was the only researcher who took the time and did the leg work to track him down from my information and interviewed him on tape. I was there and I have a copy of that tape. This was many years after I had told Jim Marrs and You too, Peter where Seiwell was and how to get in touch with him... You and Jim and even Oliver Stone and Joe West DID NOT EVEN TRY to talk to him. As well as Larry Hancock. Now that Seiwell is dead (91 years old) You people come out of the wood work and claim things that are not true. You feel that some owe you their hard earned work.

The whole matter of Jays work and that of Seiwells's is a damn good example of twisting the facts that makes me so damn touche about the qualifications of so called researchers. After the man is DEAD then you want his material Seiwell's as well as JAY's.. And some of you feel it is owed to you for the sake of history. BS I lived it... Jay researched it.. It was and is for this very reason that I told Walt "Not to give any of Jays material concerning Me to ANYONE without my consent"...

Jay got a lot of background on my family and what my father did in the War years for Uncle Sam and the OSS, at Love Field. Jay was damn good at what he did. So again I say I want nothing more to do with the investigations into JFK. And too, I do not want anymore of my personal life passed around for others to twist and fit into their wild theories about how things really went down in Dallas... I tried to point researchers to the location of many facts which could be established but most could not get past their egos and pet theories to really go and look. The Seiwell case is a perfect example. If what I had to say did not jive with others preconcieved ideas and speculations, then I was the one who was Wrong. And too, I was called a liar and a fabricator with a wild story by some of these so called "EXPERTS".

Now, you can sent this reply to Walt. So get off his case and that of mine... Capt Edward G Seiwell is dead and gone... you missed out and nothing you can say or do will change that. You Peter and others have screwed the record up for the last time, in my view. By the way where is the 'Wilson" material promised many years ago? Where is all the secret stuff that you and you alone uncovered? "....but can't tell at this time..to hush hush". All of you from this quarter Look at yourselves. Patheic.

I would have loved to have interviewed Seiwell and never doubted he was the person who brought you into the fold of the intell and covert realms. We already had documents on that. As you know, I was actively tracing your story until I was 'derailed' and left broke and homeless...and eventually moved to Europe. Hard to interview him from here. So why would you not join others in asking for Walt to release for due compensation the materials on you, which would include such matters as Seiwell, RedBird, et al.?!?!?!?!

Peter. Obviously you can't read or do not what to read what I wrote, because in your world it does not fit.

I will be curious to see if Walt Brown refers to his great friend Jay Harrison and all Jay's work at this years COPA conference. A few years back COPA was covered live by coasttocoast and Walt spoke at length about Jay and his loss to the community and the great value of Jay's work.

Jay has been gone now since 5/25/05.

On Sunday 11/22 attendees of COPA are invited to Baylor University in Waco Tx. where the works of Penn Jones are housed. It would be most fitting to Jay's memory if Brown saw fit to have Jay's works housed in such a manner.

Walt was not present at the conference but spoke from home. I only saw part of his talk but Erick told me that he did say that he is incorporating some of Jay's work into his chronology. He did not mention depositing/donating the files themselves to a university both for safekeeping and access by other researchers.

Oh, I did hear you Tosh, but I find that a poor excuse. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the 'kitchen'. You know and knew that once you 'stepped-in out of the 'cold'' you and yours would be subject to scrutiny of all sorts. I'm sorry [theoretically] if some of it is or may be not to your liking. It is our job to look at every bit of evidence and angle. No one would nor should release publicly matters not directly related. I even kept a promise to you to not ever mention one thing you shared with me in confidence. However, Jay's work is important and not just for what it may say about you - although I believe the best test of whether you were or were not doing what you say on 11/22 may rest in his research files. Certainly, his materials on Seiwell alone will greatly help your 'case'. Remember all the times you warned me about what could go wrong and happen. Take your own advice and stand-down trying to block things...and take whatever heat arises from seeking the Truth. Your Friend.

Tosh I am astounded at this post. Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of Jay's death. I was just about to post something but was trying to get to the end of the posts and saw this! What about all the times you called ME and asked me to contact Walt? I contacted him at your request more than a dozen times. Have you now told Walt to have no contact with me as well? I have no clue what your beef with Peter is, and don't want to get involved in it, but when I was contacting Walt you wanted Peter to have certain things. I find this switcharoo quite perplexing. I know you and Jay were friends for decades, and I only 8 years, but we spoke daily, dozens of times.
Yesterday he was on my mind a lot but I was in court all day and had no time to get to the computer.
Anyway ....Jay is rolling over in his grave as he TRUSTED Walt with is life's work and it's being buried and now you seem to be assisting in said burial.
And since Walt has tried to embarras me here, on my own forum I can finally state the truth for the record: I never tursted him from day one. With good reason. He told me two lies the day we met. It was the Sunday after the 5/29/98 Dallas press conference. The day they wer both so mad at Richard for telling John Kelin Nathan Darby's name. In the context of who I was and how I fit into the case I mentioned Boston and the AIB.. Walt Brown then told me that he had "shared the stage with Carl Oglesby in Boston in 1975 at the first ever conference" of this nature. Then he told me that Carl Oglesby was one of his best friends. I knew the first thing was a lie because I was at that entire conference and if Mr. Brown was there he was there as an attendee, not a speaker. So soon's I came home I called MY close friend Carl and asked him one question: "What is your opinion of Walt Brown?" His reply: "Who's Walt Brown?" Walt can now seek to call me some sort of liar but there were witnesses to this conversation with whom I am still in contact.

RIP Jay, I miss you.

Anyway, My intent to post here was just to comment on Jay and the 5 year anniversary of his death being yesterday.

I wish the rersearchers would stop fighting and work in cooperation. But all I have seen in over 37 years of this is in- fighting. So sad.

I too am aware that some of Jay's work is safe. Jay did have a life before he met Walt. I asked not to be told with whom or where anything is because
I don't want to be put in any position of being asked any more questions about Jay or his work.
Today I just want to remember his friendship and his wonderful humor. And how willingly he shared with those lucky enough to learn about him by word of mouth. He asked only one thing: that his id never be revealed. I kept that promise until 5/25/05 when I announced his death at the Ed Forum. Prior to that I never said his name to anyone, except those who knew him. Jay was one in a million:that mind filled with a zillion facts. He was a walking computer. And he was alway willing to help other researchers. But he often got burned. No names here but I know of several who literally ripped him off.
ANd by which I don't mean Walt. Walt knows who I am talking about.
But Walt, untimately.....one is left to draw one's own conclusons. I came to like Walt by the end and we had many pleasant talks, especially after Jay died. I hope someday Walt does the fight thing. For Jay.

He will never rest in peace otherwise.

I had bought Walt Brown's The People v. Lee Harvey Oswald (1992) in 1997. In his Sources and Acknowledgments:

A special note of indebtedness must go to Harold and Lillian Weisberg. Mr. Weisberg was patient enough to listen to the concepts of this book, and gave me some needed direction.

I currently subscribe to Walt Brown's JFK Deep Politics Quarterly.

I have read the logistical difficulties of the large volume of materials, their need for security, their inaccessibilty, need for editorial processing, etc.

I have read the arguments of ownership and access, of allegations and animus, etc.

I know from Case Open (Harold Weisberg, 1994) that he was open with his hundreds of thousands of pages of bitterly-won FOIA material from FBI and other sources--even with the execrable Gerald Posner.

It must be stipulated--in the spirit of the ARRB Act--that materials germaine to the Crime of the Republic are the property of that People who figure as the first word in Walt Brown's first book.

Harold Weisberg had so much, and he offered it so graciously--I have a hand-penned note from Lillian Weisberg which accompanied that first box of seven of his books.

Yet there is so much rancor and resistance regarding release of subsequent research. Surely credit can be given, and assistance offered.

One thing is certain, the CIA sausage factory continues production: Coming Soon: Tom Hank's in Depository Toy Story.

Where are the profiles in courage when all is bitterness and grumbling.

Just to report, there have been NO changes in the situation and no one working to change it. I've never understood all the animus in the 'research' community....I still haven't recovered from being kicked-off another internet forum and in the 'real' world have often found only resistance from some other 'researchers'. Yet, as you point out there have been and are those who do share and work with others, allowing us to get as far as we have......Viking

"Assistance offered"? If you mean assistance to Walt, he has turnd down any assistance. I was a subscriber for many years as well. I only ceased buying DPQ after an email from Walt saying he was not doing anything with J's research as only a few people would care. So if it's just sitting in dead storage, I don't see why he does not simply donate it to some place nearby, perhaps Dr. Cyril Wecht's institute.

But then again perhaps the purpose in acquiring said materials was just that.
Acquisition and nothing further.
