Police find body in bag at MI6 man's London flat

Haven't these guys heard of Occam's Razor? Just because it can technically be done by some police woman doesn't mean that this is what he did. Confusedheep:

If a sex worker were dependent upon this type of fetish client for a living s/he would starve to death. Meanwhile, they could make quite a good bob solely with blokes eager to lick clean the bottom of their stilettos.

Don't forget that British journalist who wrote for some defense magazine who was found dead from 'auto-erotic asphyxiation' in Chile who was no doubt also murdered. We have some info here on the forum about that.

Police believe the MI6 spy found dead in a sports bag in a bath inside his flat may have died after a bizarre sex game went wrong, according to well-placed sources.
That really is a world class example of journalistic tripe.

Couldn't agree more Jan. It's complete and utter bollocks.

The background to his death - let's call it what it almost certainly was and use the word "murder" - must be a quite embarrassing situation for SIS for them to cover-up it up with such a ridiculous fairy tale of an explanation.

PS, I'll add my pet theory: the body was placed in the sports bag because the deceased was killed elsewhere and carried to the MI6 safe-house and deposited in the bath (for obvious reasons). Ergo, whoever was responsible for the murder also knew - and had easy access to (a front door key, for example?) to an MI6 safe house.

Inside job? Or another intelligence agency sending a message?

David - great to see you posting again.

An additional wildcard is this material from post #31 in this thread:

Quote:The policeman who found the body of MI6 codebreaker Gareth Williams said it was submerged in ‘fluid’, The Mail on Sunday has learned.

An inquest heard last week that the 31-year-old spy was padlocked in a sports hold-all and left in the bath of his two-bedroom flat in Pimlico, Central London.

But the disclosure that he was also covered by liquid – not thought to be blood or water – has raised fears that a substance was used to accelerate decay and complicate toxicology tests.

I wonder if Scotland Yard's finest rozzers smothered their petite police woman in said fluid when constructing their ridiculous reconstruction of the body in the bag in the bath padlocked from outside event.

Ditto to welcome back David.

Not so sure about the killed elsewhere bit though. Carrying a body - in that bag or otherwise - to and into that building and to the top floor would risk all manner of unwelcome observation.

I recall Paul R speculating on a possible connection with Williams' Kabul visit earlier in this thread. I've fleshed out a few more on Wikispooks - notably a possible Israeli connection (first mentioned here by Christer Forslund) and a Russian one based on the Name of the property owners "New Rodina" (New Motherland in Russian and Bulgarian) - BVI registered - "The Rodina Society" having been a well established front for KGB activities during the cold war.

I agree the fluid may well have been to accelerate decomposition - and/or complicate the toxicology testing. Another obvious reason for 'in a bag in the bath' is to inhibit the spread of decomposition smells and body fluids seeping through the floor/ceiling below, in order to delay discovery for as long as possible.

It is understood Mr Williams's job at the time of his death was creating computer defences in the City of London. Williams would have had access to information which other countries would want to obtain. [or MI5/6 wouldn't want him to know about.....]

The intelligence source said: "His job was to defend the banking system on which Britain's banking, commerce and all our public services depend. It was the kind of work that would have made him prime target for recruitment.

"He was also in a position to know about huge money transfers out of [or to] the Middle East which were linked to terror groups. It would be priceless data."

A bit more like it but there must be a lot more to it.

Peter Presland Wrote:Another obvious reason for 'in a bag in the bath' is to inhibit the spread of decomposition smells and body fluids seeping through the floor/ceiling below, in order to delay discovery for as long as possible.

This strikes me as the more likely reason for the fluid. Concomitant to this reasoning would be a desire to delay the discovery of the corpse as much as possible (in the event it took 3 weeks didn't it?). And that, in my favoured scenario, is why an MI6 safe house was used. It is my understanding that safe houses are used infrequently and are, therefore, ideal to hide a body.

It's a simple enough job, I should think, to arrive in a vehicle, haul the body in a bag out of the back, and carry it into the flat. If done at night, and professionally, little suspicion would be aroused. Added to this, infrequent comings and goings by different people to the property are a key reason for choosing the location of a safe house.

Mr. Lemkin's above addition is really very interesting (Hi Pete!). City banking. Hhmmm. Remember that Mr. Williams mobile phone Sim cards (plural it seems?)were left laid out in the flat to be found? Some sort of inside message perhaps?

I wonder if the Telegraph's added comment about money transfers out of the middle east linked to terror groups is designed to lead us all away from something else altogether?

Thanks for the welcome back Peter and Jan. It will be flying visits until mid October I'm afraid (sheesh, I never knew "retirement" could be so busy!), but after that it should settle down.

Yes, no doubt....but often the intelligence agencies and their private counterparts are only the 'muscle/enforcers/hit men' for the financial interests....

As a token of my extreme dedication to DPF I tried to replicate this feat last night.

I dressed up as a policewoman and immersed myself in a bath of embalming fluid, whilst imprisoned in a bodybag.

Mostly it seemed doable, but I couldn't lock it - the embalming fluid made my fingers too slippery to hold the key.

I will try again tonight using a different make of embalming fluid and let you know how I get on.

It’s important to take an empirical approach in this world of smoke and mirrors I think. Smile
