Occupy Everywhere - Sept 17th - Day of Rage Against Wall Street and what it stands for!
Occupy Portland destroyed by Police. Many are sleeping and regrouping after 48 hours awake and battling. Plans are to re-occupy somewhere today. Oakland is next. All this being coordinated, I'm quite sure, on the Federal level by HS. If anyone STILL had any doubt of which side of history Obummer was on.....his silence and lack of support of OWS speaks volumes.

Occupy Oakland Is an Extended Sit-In: We Will Not Be Moved

November 13, 2011
From members of the Media Committee:
Last night, Occupy Portland amassed thousands of people in preparation for an eviction scheduled for 12:01am Sunday morning. Some sources are reporting that as many as 5,000 or more Occupy supporters squared off against police in riot gear to protect Chapman and Lownsdale Squares, where protestors have been camping in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and other Occupy movements across the globe. As of this writing, many of the protestors cleared out and tents are being torn down, but, in light of their victory of last night and this morning, they are regrouping. Portland Mayor Sam Adams really can't expect people to give up so easily.
In the meantime, things at Occupy Oakland last night were quiet and peaceful, with few signs of police presence. A small open mic was followed by music and mingling. Though some have cleared out their tents, many are committed to defending Frank Ogawa/Oscar Grant Plaza despite eviction notices delivered twice in the past week.
Supporters of Occupy Oakland, let's follow last night's example in Portland! The small contingent of campers at the plaza needs your help! We need bodies ready to be on the ground at a moment's notice in order to protect our camp and keep our movement strong. Mayor Jean Quan and other prominent members of the City Council and Chamber of Commerce, which represents corporate interests in Oakland, want us out. They don't want to have a daily reminder of civil unrest, of homelessness, joblessness, and poverty. If they can sweep us under the rug, they can go back to business as usualworking on a multi-million dollar downtown renewal project that is meant to "revitalize" the city but in reality has pushed out thousands of marginalized Oakland residents and gentrified much of the downtown area. Allowing them to move our encampment is agreeing to turn our roar into a whimper, to "protest" in a way that safely accommodates the interests of those who care nothing about Oakland's 99%. They already control our money, our jobs, our products, our homes, even our public spacesare we going to let them control our protest, too? Last week, Mayor Jean Quan said, "Occupation is a tactic, not a solution." She needs to know that destroying the camp is a tactic, not a solution. We're here to stay until the fight against the government and the corporations is won.
Be ready, Oakland. Keep updated on Twitter and Facebook. Commit to helping. Commit to coming down and linking arms to keep the Occupation in the plaza!

Oakland wiped out [although no violence this time...they learned from Olsen]. There is now being built a very strong and high fence/wall around the park the Occupation was using and word is many Police will be within it for many days, as well. The MSM have reported falsely and horribly, putting negative spin on everything.

My fear is that HS will shortly announce some kind of edict that OWS is a terrorist [sic] organization [sic] and then federalize the response! More and more I believe this movement, whether you like it in part, fully or not at all may be our last chance. The windows are to be sealed soon....on what little is left of our freedoms, rights and democracy. The Oligarchy are scared by this movement [some now hiring troops of bodyguards they didn't have before!]...that alone speaks well of it. Stay tuned. The Revolution will not be televised..it will be live-streamed!

An Early Occupation and how it was dealt with. They were all Veterans and their families, almost all homeless and broke, only asking for what had been promised them......sound familiar?

The Bonus Army
In 1924, a grateful Congress voted to give a bonus to World War I veterans - $1.25 for each day served overseas, $1.00 for each day served in the States. The catch was that payment would not be made until 1945. However, by 1932 the nation had slipped into the dark days of the Depression and the unemployed veterans wanted their money immediately.

In May of that year, some 15,000 veterans, many unemployed and destitute, descended on Washington, D.C. to demand immediate payment of their bonus. They proclaimed themselves the Bonus Expeditionary Force but the public dubbed them the "Bonus Army." Raising ramshackle camps at various places around the city, they waited.

The veterans made their largest camp at Anacostia Flats across the river from the Capitol. Approximately 10,000 veterans, women and children lived in the shelters built from materials dragged out of a junk pile nearby - old lumber, packing boxes and scrap tin covered with roofs of thatched straw.

Discipline in the camp was good, despite the fears of many city residents who spread unfounded "Red Scare" rumors. Streets were laid out, latrines dug, and formations held daily. Newcomers were required to register and prove they were bonafide veterans who had been honorably discharged. Their leader, Walter Waters, stated, "We're here for the duration and we're not going to starve. We're going to keep ourselves a simon-pure veteran's organization. If the Bonus is paid it will relieve to a large extent the deplorable economic condition."

June 17 was described by a local newspaper as "the tensest day in the capital since the war." The Senate was voting on the bill already passed by the House to immediately give the vets their bonus money. By dusk, 10,000 marchers crowded the Capitol grounds expectantly awaiting the outcome. Walter Waters, leader of the Bonus Expeditionary Force, appeared with bad news. The Senate had defeated the bill by a vote of 62 to 18. The crowd reacted with stunned silence. "Sing America and go back to your billets" he commanded, and they did. A silent "Death March" began in front of the Capitol and lasted until July 17, when Congress adjourned.

A month later, on July 28, Attorney General Mitchell ordered the evacuation of the veterans from all government property, Entrusted with the job, the Washington police met with resistance, shots were fired and two marchers killed. Learning of the shooting at lunch, President Hoover ordered the army to clear out the veterans. Infantry and cavalry supported by six tanks were dispatched with Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur in command. Major Dwight D. Eisenhower served as his liaison with Washington police and Major George Patton led the cavalry.

By 4:45 P.M. the troops were massed on Pennsylvania Ave. below the Capitol. Thousands of Civil Service employees spilled out of work and lined the streets to watch. The veterans, assuming the military display was in their honor, cheered. Suddenly Patton's troopers turned and charged. "Shame, Shame" the spectators cried. Soldiers with fixed bayonets followed, hurling tear gas into the crowd.

By nightfall the BEF had retreated across the Anacostia River where Hoover ordered MacArthur to stop. Ignoring the command, the general led his infantry to the main camp. By early morning the 15,000 inhabitants were routed and the camp in flames. Two babies died and nearby hospitals overwhelmed with casualties. Eisenhower later wrote, "the whole scene was pitiful. The veterans were ragged, ill-fed, and felt themselves badly abused. To suddenly see the whole encampment going up in flames just added to the pity."

A group of angry occupiers jumped on a NYPD officer, disarmed him and gave him some rough 'justice'....it is on youtube...don't have the url and they might take it down...will try to find. No, on Twitter just now, but will be on youtube soon. Two police provocateurs caught on camera who demanded camera off - they were letting air out of police car tires. Still chaos in the streets of NYC. Tomorrow will be massive protests and marches, I think!

Estimated over $100.000 in property destroyed and going to the landfill now. Two months work of love destroyed. Police everywhere in lower Manhattan now! Any subway lines that come near were shut down to prevent help for the protesters. I'm so angry, I can barely write. Sorry.
