- Above, LA Times story on Juan Romero.
- Below, from Facebook, Aug. 31, 2015:
- Paul Schrade I have followed Steve Lopez who for years has fully informed us about Juan Romero with compassion. One time I talked to Juan by phone when he visited a class at Palo Alto High. The teacher had told me that Juan felt guilty that he had delayed Bob so Sirhan was able to shoot him in the back. I remember them shaking hands and feeling this was just as emotional for them as Bob's first meeting with Cesar Chavez in Delano in 1966. I assured Juan in no way should he feel guilty. We had turned eastward away from him and walked into Sirhan's line of fire from in front of us. He missed Bob and shot me in the top of my head. Sirhan was immediately captured and piled on by Bill Barry, Rosie Grier, Rafer Johnson and several others and was never in position to shoot Bob in the back four times. Bob was shot including the fatal shot in contact or up to an inch from the back of his head by a second gunman. The Prosecution failed to investigate or admit to this and the second gunman went free. Audiotape evidence now shows that 13 shots were fired 8 by Sirhan and 5 by the second gunman from two different positions. Falsification of the number of gunshots to only 8 was the Prosecution's deliberate effort to blame Sirhan. Sirhan did try to shoot Bob and missed. While a captive of Ambassador Hotel escort Karl Uecker who had seized Sirhan's gun hand and pounded it on the steam table. Sirhan's 6 last gunshots were fired away from Bob and wounded 4 more persons and penetrated door frames away from us. Sirhan was out of bullets and never in position to shoot Bob. I have no conspiracy theory. The falsification and fraud committed by the Prosecution to cover up the fatal shooting of Bob by the second gunman is totally clear based on the Prosecution's own witness testimony and forensic and physical evidence. Yet every District Attorney and Police Chief since 1968 has ignored the evidence and refused to re-open this case as is needed if Robert Kennedy and the American people are ever to have justice....in solidarity....PAUL Paul Schrade

Paul Schrade Besides Steve Lopez' support for Juan Romero the kindness and concern of Claudia Zwiener reported by Steve gives Juan a new way to feel about himself and live better.
