Sad, there should be statues of Whitlam in prominent places, and I'd venture to bet there is not a one, and I'll also bet they don't even begin to teach this 'dangerous' truth in History classes - even at the university level [or especially at that level]. We in the US love 'ya when you go surfing, chase 'roos, wear bush hats turned up on one side, and talk in that nice twangy Ozzie English fashion; but we subverted your governmental democracy at its heart, murdered a few people, bribed some others, when you tried to assert your own political will - how dare you think you could control your own political processes and express your own political will! But let us not forget that the UK played a major bit-part in this drama!...but all orchestrated from the current seat of Empire's Board HQ in Langley, VA. Its a 'Company thing'....and about doing 'business' according to the say-so of the few. Sickening. Hard to believe Oz still considers the US and UK as best friends. 'Oh, hey thanks heaps; the coup was ace mate! No worries! We're stoked that happened!'
