Simply to clarify this is the "second" Clearstream affair. The first involved Ernest Backes and Denis Robert. Until I just read the Wiki entry I had no idea that Denis Robert has been completely discredited for his book on Cedel/Clearstram called Revelation$.
Having said that Cedel (the forerunner of Clearstream) had already hit the headlines in 1983 with the suspicious death in Corsica of its former CEO, Gerard Soisson, who had been sacked two months earlier for his apparent involvement in the Banco Ambrosiano affair.
It's all rather sordid. But sadly there is nothing new in that.
