There was a book written by Tony Summers, same one that wrote about JFK but well before then, called 'File on the Tsar' Interesting history about all the deals that were going on with the Tsar and family who were very valuable and taken very good care of by the Bolsheviks. They would have been delighted for England to take off their hands as they had a civil war to fight and were astounded when England reject them. They were still working on other sanctuaries for the family but there was interference with the local chain of command and changes in the front line and the party lost control of the situation. But it was through Harbin China they were heading.
