Why stop with just a few words? Once you begin such a process the door has been opened up to modify meaning, intent and to cut and paste as you feel.
Having said that, it is far from being the first time in history that the Bible has been changed to suit the prevailing viewpoint of the time. In fact, it came into being after horrendous editing out of various texts that were considered to be off message. Many of these ended up in the Apocrypha. Many more did not and disappeared down Alice's rabbit hole only to reappear in later times.
