Extremely frustrating. May I suggest writing your responses on a document first and when finished copy and paste it into a forum post? I do that if I have to post a long one. Saves a lot of angst from loss of hard unique thoughtful work.

I have often found that the Restore function works pretty good. If you lose a post because of the 24 hr reset happens, just open a Respond window as if you were starting over. On the lower grey border, you will see a Restore text function. Click on it, and it often works.
