Seeing Jefferson Morley, Oliver Stone and Jim DiEugenio sitting before Congress, appealing for the last vestiges of the JFK files to be declassified, is like listening to a sad and tired refrain from a jaded 60s song. These files won't be declassified, not anytime soon, because doing so would be a threat to national security - a big clue that the National Security State orchestrated JFK's assassination.
And these three gentlemen know this. They know that, just before the 1977 HSCA investigation began, the Pentagon incinerated its JFK files. The CIA and FBI likewise destroyed key documents. We, the people, won't find a "smoking gun" by looking for it in further documents. We don't need any more documents to understand that this was a National Security State murder - i.e. involving military intelligence, central intelligence, and the hidden entities who control these federal enforcement organizations.
The Texas School Book Depository Company only moved into Dealey Plaza the winter before the assassination. And, there were TWO MYSTERIOUS EPISODES with the FREIGHT ELEVATORS that were SUPPRESSED and not known until the Warren Commission hearings four months later. And the Commission of course glossed them over. What was going on? These elevators were used in the assassination plot, which several employees - besides Oswald - had participated in. This murderous use of the abandoned warehouse at 411 Elm Street was the purpose for the TSBD Company's expansion beyond its Houston Street facility.
We don't need documents to tell us this. We don't need arguments from Morley, Stone or DiEugenio contending that Oswald couldn't have shot Kennedy from the front - what we need is arguments proving he was in the 2nd-floor lunchroom during the motorcade.
And these arguments have been made already, but few people listen, because the messengers are hated. They are hated because they demonstrated how knuckleheaded dozens of researchers were for claiming that the lunchroom encounter (60 seconds after the shooting) was make-believe. How sorry-ass their film-analysis skills were for claiming that a blurry image standing on the Depository landing was a t-shirted Oswald, when in fact it was a fat secretary wearing a dress with a scooped neckline.
Even after refuting their fairy tales with a truckload of evidence dumped on their front lawns, the sorry-ass knuckleheads still cling to a last hope that the original NBC films will finally expose their beloved PrayerMan - and thereby resuscitate the pummeled dead-horse of the lunchroom hoax hypothesis. This decrepit hope is the legacy - the residue of a decade of damage - bequeathed to the JFK research community by Sean Murphy, Greg Parker and their merry band of ROKC minions. Barroom scholarship that was propagandized as progressive and sexy and therefore gospel truth; nevermind that when fire-tested by the crucible of analysis, it dissipated into dust.
Dozens of otherwise-competent researchers bought into their clever sophistry, and simply ignored the rock-solid arguments to the contrary. A consensus was built based on favoritism, and that swell of popular opinion was deemed self-evident proof of the correctness of their proposition. Naysayers were marginalized and treated with disdain - yet they held fast, in the face of increasing resentment, because real truth is invincible. And it has been disheartening to see how widespread the plague of mediocrity was that blanketed the research community.
Unfortunately, Jim DiEugenio sided with these knuckleheads. And he is Oliver Stone's best-buddy researcher, his inside man on the nuts & bolts of assassination issues. And Stone is now petitioning Congress for the release of the original NBC footage, with misguided expectations that there may be significant revelations therein. And these expectations - whose seeds were sown in Murphy's barroom in Dublin - are fated to bring heaps of embarrassment upon the JFK research community.
Don't get me wrong. It is a very good thing to finally have this footage in the public domain. But it arrives with some really bad karma.
Mr. Stone needs to understand that this is no longer the Age of DiEugenio in the research community. Jim's ascendancy peaked with his critiques of Vincent Bugliosi and the reboot of his masterwork Destiny Betrayed, but he has since slid into mediocrity.
We are presently in the Age of Armstrong. Not only has John Armstrong laid out a titanic contribution as regards an Oswald doppelganger. He has also decoded the Rosetta Stone of the assassination - the Tippit murder - in a triumph of inductive reasoning, which draws on his vast knowledge base and bloodhound intuition to correctly finger two DPD officers as the perpetrators. The profound lie about the Tippit killing laid the foundation for the profound lie that Oswald shot the President.
This is the kind of meat-and-potatoes evidence that Congress and the American people need to gather their sustenance on. Not embarrassing allegations of a lunchroom hoax and Oswald on the landing, which belong firmly in the rear-view mirror.
