Nothing new seems to have come of the B thing, but I found something tangentially related, perhaps: the November 18, 1946 episode of Lux Radio Theater starring Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake, called "OSS" with opening quote from Wild Bill Donovan. The female character, Ellen Rogers, is a sculptress and is recruited in San Francisco for undercover work inside Nazi occupied France, with her cover being artist. Her recruiter becomes excited by the possibility of using art supplies as camoflage for plastic explosives (modeling clay, paints), fuses (pastel sticks) etc. and discusses it with the technology directorate or equivalent.
The only thing it shows is that this idea was current in the tradecraft early on.
