Absolutely correct. But the fact that Condon used such a literary artifact in order to link a close paradigm for the methodologies used by MKULTRA programmers into his novel is the significant fact here. In 1958 when he wrote the novel published in 1959, very little was known about MKULTRA outside of the group of CIA insiders directly involved with that project including Dr. Hans J. Eysenck later with Draper's Pioneer Fund. If anyone could have high jacked the techniques of creating and controlling a programmed assassin and delivered it directly to Wickliffe Draper, it would have been Eysenck. In fact I believe that this was exactly how Oswald was high jacked and used by these Eugenicists behind the JFK hit. Even H. Werner Kloepfer was in the American Eugenics Society from 1956 until the late 1970's which would go a long way to explain why Oswald had his address and phone number in his address book.
Similarly Condon used the artifact of "The Jukes" and "The Kallikaks" to highlight the roles of the works of people like Henry H. Goddard and Eugenicist Robert Yerkes in the likely machinations involved with creating a programmed assassin.
And the Giant Juke Box Company of Arcana, Illinois was a reference to The John Birch Society and Urbana, Illinois the home of Dr. Revilo P. Oliver who was a Warren Commission interviewee. And the Arcana was a reference to Adrian Arcand who was close to the Bill Buckley associates as well as Boris Brasol who worked with Robert Morris at The Coudert Brothers Law Firm who ran Buckley's NYC Mayoralty Campaign in about 1965.
The list of Condon artifacts like this is enormous and quite frankly I am just amazed that only 2 other have people found items like this within his novel. Someone in California cited a Shakespearean reference to the murder of Julius Caeser in Condon's novel. This guy, also a systems programmer, mentioned it probably had significance in solving the murder of JFK which was probably a plot approved by a half dozen or more right wing Senators just like in old Julius' case.
I just don't understand why people can not see Man Cand for what it is. Just a remarkable foreshadowing of the murder of JFK 5 years in advance by the people in The Birch Society who had tried and failed at this task in California when JFK was just a Senator according to Prof Jerry Rose.
