Ed Jewett Wrote:Not in the slightest, Charlie. You and Dawn and Mr. Douglass have it right; this is a spiritual war. Which reminds me... I owe him my letter of thanks, already sent to the publishing houses. And Charlie? Your own earlier expression has made me change my approach entirely on another forum, where someone earlier this afternoon said the subject would always be debated (as Salandria warned they would facilitate), and my response -- sprinkled with evidence of "beyond peradventure of doubt" -- was to say that the debate was over; what remained was for the American people to recognize what had occurred, and its implications, and to take the necessary action.
Ed,
I've been preaching this sermon for more than ten years.
The title of my novel/film on the JFK assassination, Autumn Too Long, derives from this e. e. cummings poem:
a wind has blown the rain away & the sky away & all the leaves away, & the trees
stand. i think i, too, have known autumn too long.

If an individual, through either his own volition or events over which he had no control, found himself taking up residence in a country undefined by flags or physical borders, he could be assured of one immediate and abiding consequence: He was on his own, and solitude and loneliness would probably be his companions unto the grave.
-- James Lee Burke, Rain Gods
You can't blame the innocent, they are always guiltless. All you can do is control them or eliminate them. Innocence is a kind of insanity.
