I can’t emphasise enough just how stark raving mad many renowned western “experts” are on the subject of Russia, discussions about which are invariably pretexts for hymning the values of the “democratic” West. Cop a load of the ignorant, hypocritical tripe served up yesterday by Chatham House’s James Sherr:

After the Moscow bombs: Bronwen Maddox debates Russia's future with James Sherr of Chatham House, March 30 at 11.30am
Er, James, old boy, our elite – you included – never quite managed it. You just switched allegiance to the new imperial hegemon in Washington. Still, if only Russia could get with the programme; after all, there's women and kids to drone kill all over the region.
Buffoon.
That Digger firewall can’t come soon enough.
PS Maddox’s sycophancy is terrific. If you like that kind of thing.

Quote:James Sherr:
Alas, I see no possibility of Russia becoming a committed member of the Western community until it sees the point of Western values which, with all their imperfections have created reasonably decent, accountable institutions and effective economies. And the greatest challenge Russia will need to face is its own emancipation from its imperial heritage. We didn't do it overnight, either!
