Yes, we might need to board them and check for contraband, in line with generally understood principles of civilization. I hope they don't try to lynch us, that could turn nasty 
This seems to me like a variation on several themes all coming under the Start Your Own Country headline.
There was an association of businesspeople in the 1970s who were pooling money to buy a South Pacific island or islands to start their own country. I don't think anything ever came of it.
Seeland is a semi-successful example of this path toward partial sovereignty or at least suzerainity.
There was another movement to colonise Antarctica. It never took off either.
Edwin Strauss's book How to Start Your Own Country from now-defunct Loompanics discusses other initiatives. One was really funny. Some Lithuanian-American or Latvian-American millionaire tried to create his own country by dredging up sand somewhere in the ocean. He spent all his money on it, and the sand settled back under the waves.
There are also some books about self-sufficiency on sailing vessels. Interesting stuff, peppered with thoughts about sovereignty and freedom.
