Philip K Dick is a modern day Cassandra, blessed with the gift of prophecy, cursed not to be taken seriously.

Like key characters in his work, Dick was channelling something.

Or perhaps more accurately, Dick was being channelled.

I suspect Dick believed he was the plaything of some demiurge.
