One of the torrents contained a README file with a bunch of weird statements, such as USE GOOGLE CHROME OR INTERNET EXPLORER TO VIEW HTML FILES and RELEASED WITH OUT PARTNERS THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE UK INDEPENDENT AND DER SPIEGEL. This doesn't sound like wikileaks to me, especially when it comes to the internet browsers.

Also the UK "partner" was The Guardian, not The Independent.
The different slants put on the raw data by the NYT, Der Spiegel and The Guardian is a whole story in itself.
In addition, it is highly likely that American, British and German intelligence agencies were viewing and "shaping" the material, ahem, simultaneously with the hacks of the NYT, Speigel and Guardian....
