Peter Lemkin Wrote:Peter Presland Wrote:DOD makes forthright demands of Wikileaks. This is a ''must watch". Seems to me from both this and a host of other reactions - notably Congressman Rogers advocating the death penalty for Assange - that the establishment it literally shitting itself. The Wikileaks model is seen as a fundamental threat and they are gearing up to 'do something about it'
The DOD press conference
Wikileaks nor Assange will...and the DOD knows it...this just gives them [as some PR firm no doubt suggested] a better 'excuse' to arrest or terminate it/him/them in some op. Dangerous days. The DOD and other entities of the Secret and Visible [but controlled] Government often put out knowingly false stories or true stories to trip others or cause spin....when others put out pure raw truth not to their 'favor' they strike out. A police state is coming...if not here. Beware! :bandit:
What I found especially surreal about that 'press briefing' is Morrel's apparent inability to understand the distinction between 'documents' and 'information'. Over and over again he stated the same demand 'Wikileaks must return all the documents in its possession' - as if that would have the remotest effect on the dissemination of the information contained in the original digital files.
He also stated several times 'they are the property of the US government' and I waited in vain for one of the reporters in the extended Q&A's to respond with something like "well, if our democracy really is 'government of the people for the people by the people' , does that not make them the property of the people?" - or something similar; but no joy. It seems that pathological government secrecy remain sacrosanct.
