Real IRA Says it Will Target UK Bankers

Banks have already been done here.
I'm not even sure who the Real IRA are. It is riddled with informers and doesn't seem to have a broad base of support. I doubt they're the only group around who would like to see bankers roasted on a spit or decorating lamp posts. They might be able to sell tickets to their shows.

Yup.

In fact, the entire Irish republican movement, and their Ulster loyalist counterparts, have always been riddled with informers, intelligence assets and agent provocateurs. Some of them are likely in government now in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

It's highly unlikely that the Real IRA have the capacity or nous to mount sustained bombing attacks on, in their own words, "high-profile economic targets and financial institutions such as the City of London".

However, if such attacks were to occur, and to be blamed by the British government and MSM on the Real IRA, then the protection of the financial elites could be categorized as a National Security priority.
