Just quickly to respond to Magda, God naturally is an Englishman. It's sort of weird anyone would even doubt this.
Tea and cucumber sandwiches are, after all, manna from Heaven.
I have a slightly different take on the current times we face, which is Jung's concept of the Collective Shadow. The general outline gets a bit scary.
So instead I usually stick to tea and cucumber sandwiches... far easier for us all to digest while we slide down the slippery slope towards oblivion don't you know.

The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
