Interestingly, only one mention of Afghanistan in the Clark-Levy piece, and that confined to contacts, not visits. Here, I still suspect, lies the key.

OTOH, among all the stuff that is mentioned, the omission of Afghanistan arguably does invite focus.
I also agree with David. The indiscretions of mid-ranking, frustrated policemen are always a worry for the SIS's and should be pondered.
