Trowbridge Ford tells quite a tale, with Gudrun Loftus and Gareth Williams being directly implicated in the wikileaks disclosure, and potential spy exchanges in the aftermath of l'affair d'Anna Chapman such as Williams being traded to Moscow. There are also integral allegations about German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Stasi and KGB connections.

If Ford's central hypothesis, or key parts of it, are true I still don't understand why MI6 allowed the corpse of Gareth Williams to rot in one of their safe houses. Especially since this led to the exposure of the involvement of the intelligence services, their assets and properties, in a national and very public scandal. Quite the opposite of what SIS usually wants.
Or is there a deep political reason for this?
If the aim was to discredit Williams through S&M-style allegations, as with say Milligan and the small orange fruit, then MI6's paid assets in MSM didn't do a very good job.
My own core view (as expressed earlier this thread) remains that Williams may have been murdered because he had a functioning moral compass and was about to blow the whistle on nefarious intelligence activities.
Such a view is not inconsistent with much of the information in Trowbridge Ford's article.
With the caveat that SIS would regard Willliams as a traitor. :bebored:
