[As an aside, are you familiar with Gavin Menzies and his book/theory/web site "1434"? I'm reading the book now about the ocean-going Chinese fleet that sailed into the Mediterranean, enabled the Renaissance, provided maps of America to the Pope, and more. Perhaps it worked in that we barbarians are indeed paying tribute and have been instructed in deference and submission. Wal-Mart always seems to be crowded.]
