Quote:Canadian newsflash, Stephen Harper's Conservative party won a majority government last night.
There was no word on the brethren being involved in any way in this election, unlike the 2006 elections when we actively supported (phone banks, MONEY, hanging signs, etc) the Conservative party. Since then, the EB seem to be out of the politics business.
So watching tv this morning, I was shocked to see the following: When Harper finished his victory speech in Calgary last night, (midnight Calgary time) he turned to shake hands with the crowd standing by the stage. The first person was Chuck Truan (Detroit), Roy Taylor (London, Ont) and Brad Mitchell (Vancouver). The EB flying under the radar once again! ON TV!!
Quote:Chuck Truan and Brad Mitchell both got to the top of their respective meetings by the usual EB formula; they are very wealthy, currently have or have had big business that employ many brethren, mistreat their local brethren in the priestly area, kiss BDH's a** and scratch backs where necessary. Roy Taylor is a mellow guy who is self employed successfully.
Detroit is in USA (hello google) but the representation-to-government system BDH set up views North America as a whole. It was quite confusing at first as he said there is no border in his view. So we merged our efforts and literally in our conversations on conference calls, etc, we did not refer to our efforts as in the States or in Canada. That was out. We referred to it as North and South. How ridiculous. So the USA brethren would come up and help the Canada EB, meet our MP's side by side with a Canadian brother. The accent gave them away sometimes but it was water off a ducks back.
