If Lee had been killed resisting arrest, or seeming too..then the Ruby solution wouldn't have been needed.
The alternate ..well, all I see are logical flaws. One connected -to -the -plot gunman..vs an entirely staged distraction..to receive, ultimately, the same result...Oswald's death.
If an alternate scenario was presented..with out huge leaps of faith..then possibly.
But there's be a lot to be explained away. The first would be...why stage it?...
How many people?...when was it decided...who was in on it, how many?...we know the ambulance drivers..etc..can they be called upon as executioners?...the whole scenario needs a logical through-line....
