You've got to love the interpretation of these facts (my bold):

The bodyguard who assassinated President Hamid Karzai's brother had been working closely with US Special Forces and the CIA before he was recruited by the Taliban, raising fears over the Islamist movement's increasingly sophisticated intelligence apparatus which has managed to threaten the inner circles of power in Afghanistan.
Sardar Mohammad, who shot Ahmed Wali Karzai at his home in Kandahar City on Tuesday, also held regular meetings with British officials, and had two brothers-in-law serving in a CIA-run paramilitary unit, the Kandahar Strike Force, the Washington Post reported yesterday.

Of course the alternative interpretation is that bodyguard Sardar Mohammad was still CIA/British intel. :mexican:

Afghanis, no matter what their political or religious feelings/beliefs are all highly patriotic and pro-independence, free from all foreign domination of any kind. Many of the fighters, intel agents, and others are double, triple and more-agents. How they act at any time is some combination of how they have been maneuvered/forced and their own internal beliefs for how best to have a free-Afghanistan, IMO. They got rid of the Russians and will do the same with the NATO/USA/UK invaders. Sadly, they will pay a very high price for this totally unnecessary imperialist venture. We back the wrong sides, and the people know it. They also know our real motives....more than do the Sheeple at home.

I could see provocations being run by Western Intelligence, to make their opposite numbers look bad. This is all part of the games played in Deep Politics. On most of these individual killings, the motives - real motives - will likely not ever be known to us. On the aggregate, the picture is much clearer.
