Just some speculation [at this point]. Such structures out of Belarus and the 'stans' likely are remnants of the old intelligence structures AND their off-the-shelf operations from Soviet times. They may have had a parallel structure to 'Gladio' in the West; as a 'Sovieto' in the East. Whatever their origins or current formation, they are likely being used now by both 'sides' [always false sides anyway]. They could do operations for their own purposes [and the wishes of those that employ them/pay them/desire their structure to remain]. Or, they could do false flag or false flag false flag ops for the 'other sides' - either for pay, payment in kind, or return favors by the other side against their society. From my experience with the equivalent in the 'West' the players themselves rarely have committed political or social views - they are hired hands in a very dirty game and only in it for the money and the preservation of themselves - not of any political structures. The next layers up, who direct them, may well have political and financial objectives - but they may well not be in sync with the 'partyline' of the government they seem to be a part of. It is well known that many officers and mechanics of the former Soviet intelligence apparatus sold their services, or re-enlisted in the Western ones at the end of the Cold War. These apparent tangled structure[s] may be a mix of that plus holding fast to the former structures. More than anything it may be a structure tucked into some former Soviet states, now independent, but in actuality intelligence for hire.....each mission going to the highest financial or political bidder. angryfire Lastly we know that much of the 'White' Russian structures in the 'West' after and during WWII were pro-Nazi and may have well remained of that ilk in the 'East' through that period and to the present. [i.e. they may well have had a lot of common political and sociopolitical ground with their 'western' counterparts in intelligence].
