A scenario for consideration:

STEP TWO: Get the ultimate RVIP -- Relevant Very Important Person -- to buy into it.

STEP FOUR: Beg the conclusion that the RVIP was murdered because he came into possession of the "truth" and was ready to expose it.
RESULT: The tall tale's bona fides are enhanced. The RVIP, who otherwise was a threat, is eliminated. Thus the value of Bud Fensterwald's lesson that "every intel op has at least two objectives" once again is underscored.
Your scenario makes much sense, CD. JFK Jr.. was also coming into possession of evidence of much from many other sources including Castro -whom he personally interviewed, and Oliver Stone. So we know he was very much on the trail. When Caroline decided not to join her family after the murder that told me she knew he'd been murdered. That was my take at least.
