La Paz, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia officially confirmed that Interpol detained today in Carrasco Airport, in Montevideo, Uruguay, businessman and lawyer Alejandro Melgar who is accused of financing a terrorist cell and expects his statement will help solve the case.
Government Minister Carlos Romero told Cadena A media from Beni Department of MelgarâÖs arrest while trying to flee to Brazil. He is member of the group of Hungarian-Bolivian terrorist Eduardo Rozsa-Flores, dismantled in Santa Cruz in 2009.
"Mr. Alejandro Melgar has been detained and we expect his statements will help explain the terrible aftermath of their terrorist actions, including separatism and assassinating the President," commented Romero.
His detention was carried out a few days after Bolivia asked the countries in the region to step up the search.
The attorney was financer for the Rózsa-Flores group who died in fire exchange at a hotel in Santa Cruz together with Hungarian Arpad Magyarosi and Irish Michael Dwyer.
Hungarian-Bolivian Elod Toazó and Bolivian-Croatian Mario Tadic were arrested at the hotel and are waiting for a trial in San Pedro jail, in La Paz.
