Its a rather bit more ominous than that, I'm afraid. A resolution of 4" or 10 cm [or so we are told is their limit - for the military and intelligence I hear it is 4-8x greater - OR BETTER!!!]. This would mean, for example, they could look in windows [side ones, not just skylights] and do face recognition as to who is home and there; get photos of people in compromising situations for blackmail, read your car plates perhaps, and those parked near you; see and count packages and items you take in/out of house/flat/garage/ etc.; One can go on and on...they can essentially see anything and everything around your home and through the windows of your home and place of work, etc....even follow you as you move around the city or countryside. This system can generate 3D images, as well. And - it will likely all be up for sale [the info! - compiled with your internet use, shopping habits, credit history, et al.]. I really doubt there will be 'opt in' legislation in the USA...but I doubt the EU will allow this...but who knows.....
