Charles Drago Wrote:I read the book once at the time of its initial publication, so I'm not reasonably conversant with the context in which the passage you cite appears.
And in this instance, I believe that grasp of context would be of invaluable assistance in your search for meaning.
Gandhi taught us to love our enemies. He received his assassin with a gesture of respect. Might Schotz's subtext here be something along the lines of JFK teaching, by example, the ultimate lesson of love and peace to the person who took his life?
Or is this simply the case of plain old bad writing and reasoning?
Charles you are a man i respect the most and i often would ask your advice on this forum. Your words and opinion are kind of Holy Grail to me although i know that you'll hate this analogy.
However i cannot agree with you on this one, i do not perceive it either as bad writing or a Jesus Christ paradigm.
To me this imaginary dialogue is sinister and an insult to JFK's memory. There is a saying in Greece, "that he slaughtered you with a glove", and in this instance i think JFK was slaughtered with a glove.
