Then years later I was contacted by someone who, without fuss or wishing to be named, mentioned that they had seen flight ZD-576 fly over the coast towards Scotland and then, a minute or two later, watched another black Chinook follow in its wake. This has never been reported.

Esther Lamont, wife of the senior keeper at Mull of Kintyre lighthouse, raised the alarm after hearing a huge explosion and seeing a fireball plunge from the sky. Wreckage was spread over a wide area.
