Referring back to Father MM in another thread, at the end of Hostage to the Devil, Martin talks about the men who are excorcists and what their lives are like after the worst of their encounters. (I loaned my copy out many years ago and never got it back or I would quote it.) He describes these persons as always looking past the reality that most of us know toward another reality. They are always aware of the horror of that reality and are on guard against its assaults, for the excocist risks his very soul in the excorcism.
There have been more than a few moments in some of your posts when that very paragraph pops into my mind. 'May the peace that passes all understand keep your heart and your soul.'
