Bevilaqua is delusional.
Literally.
For years he tried to convince anyone who would listen that Frank Sturgis drove from Miami to North Providence, Rhode Island (where allegedly Bevilaqua lives and works in the computer industry) just so he could pull up in his Mercedes (of course) next to Bevilaqua's car, establish eye contact, make the thumb-and-forefinger pistol gesture, and then drive back to Florida.
This nonsense was shopped at the same time Bevilaqua was claiming that, as a child, while residing in Florida, he and his family lived next door to a safe house from which, on an evening fraught with the heart-sick love songs of cicadas and the meat fire scent of intrigue, he overheard through his bedroom window plans for the Dallas hit.
The latter, of course, is the equivalent of Woody Allen's character "Alvy Singer" claiming, in Annie Hall, that he grew up living under the Thunderbolt roller coaster on Coney Island.
The last Bevilaqua straw for me was when, on these very pages, he lied about George Michael Evica and his work.
Fiorini! Where are you when we need you, little flower?

If an individual, through either his own volition or events over which he had no control, found himself taking up residence in a country undefined by flags or physical borders, he could be assured of one immediate and abiding consequence: He was on his own, and solitude and loneliness would probably be his companions unto the grave.
-- James Lee Burke, Rain Gods
You can't blame the innocent, they are always guiltless. All you can do is control them or eliminate them. Innocence is a kind of insanity.
