You are not alone in being forced to reveal your real name on youtube. But it seems, you can revert.
I have not tested this, since I am not on youtube.
Youtube/google are trying since July to get more people to use their real name, allegedly to improve the quality of comments and uploads.

Go to your YouTube Settings (which you would see on the left of the double drop down in place of the regular single drop down) and there, in Overview use the small link next to your username to "revert". You may need to readjust your channel's title in Channel Settings in My Channel (I found that mine reverted to being whatever my URL was, ie TheLadyFromUncle and not The Lady from Uncle with spaces).
