The chances that is was just a very clever way to get a PhD thesis past her advisor and approved is slim [to none].
I have NO proof, but speculate that there seems to be MUCH evidence that there are two opposing factions in the Deep Political Cesspool...[the two lower levels of Dante's Hell in competition/opposition]. She may have been of one and he of the other.....
