A friend indicates Jack Ruby, perhaps at a time he was changing his name from Jacob Rubenstein, was dealing drugs in an Italian neighborhood of Chicago, and for this was exiled to Dallas, sparing his life, placing him in perpetual debt.
It isn't at all likely that Ruby went down the ramp. Rather, a path was left open for him by Patrick Dean in charge of basement security and linked to Civello the Dallas Marcello boss.
Then in 75, Hoffa and Giancana. 76 Roselli. 77 Nicoletti and DeMohrenschildt. Baddabing baddabang baddaboom.
You're linking Ruby with the Italian Mafia. One problem--he wasn't Italian.
And that's a lot of Italian bosses (except for DeMohrenschildt) getting whacked at the end.
They're clearly not at the top of the food chain.
