Uber-PR to the celebrities and the powerful, Max Clifford, is both a player (eg thru his Al Fayed links), a suppressor of secrets, and a user of secrets.
I don't believe the Scotland Yard rozzers who've arrested Clifford know quite what they've done.
Special Branch and SIS must be all over this, trying to ensure the "right" secrets come out, and the "wrong" secrets remain in their blackmail dossiers.
Max Clifford once granted me a 30-minute interview. It was when I was making the BBC4 film about Rebekah Wade. Noone would talk to me on camera. Except Max.....
He had lots of nice things to say about Rebekah.
