It's speculative, but entirely possible.
Phase I of the limited hangout around Gladio is that the cells were part of a moral "anti-communist stay behind army", modelled on WW2 resistance groups, to ensure that the Red Army could not march into western Europe without facing military consequences.
In fact, the Gladio cells were commonly populated with fascists and Nazi WW2 collaborators. This was effectively a Gehlen network of cells, staffed by ruthless, experienced, hardline neo-Nazis who believed the End justifed the Means and were perfectly happy to shoot or bomb civilians and blame it on the evil Reds.
The miiltary coup in Chile, led by the tool Pinochet but sponsored by elite interests, happened in 1973. This was officially a coup led by the indigenous military against a "dangerous socialist" but was of course planned outside Chile. The horrors of Operation Condor were then unleashed on South America.
Condor and Gladio.
Two peas in a pod.
A military coup in Italy in 1970, ostensibly led by the indigenous military, but in reality a Gladio operation?
Entirely plausible.
