Beginning with his motormouth in the cab. His chains and locks on his refrigerator (locked) contents. The entire apartment a pyrotechnic device.

Patrick Stewart as Sidney Gottlieb. Flashbacks, memory breaking through conditioning, the killer awakes.

Julia Roberts conned by an interagency chameleon.

Catcher in the Rye a leash, homing device.

It was amazingly daring; putting out so much without any notice (ignoring it the Castle's response, rather than censor).

I agree that Conspiracy Theory was daring, for Those With Eyes Wide Open.

Of course, Those With Eyes Wide Closed, such as MSM, regarded it as limp humour. Eg:

Todd McCarthy of Variety called the film "a sporadically amusing but listless thriller that wears its humorous, romantic and political components like mismatched articles of clothing . . . This is a film in which all things . . . are treated lightly, even glibly . . . One can readily sympathize with . . . the director's desire to inject the picture with as much humor as possible. But he tries to have it every which way in the end, and the conflicting moods and intentions never mesh comfortably."

At the deep political level, I'm intrigued that the actor playing the hero, Mel Gibson, who in the movie triumphes after a fashion, has since indulged in various drunken and abusive episodes, totally destroying any respect for his morality or conscience.

Gibson has been accused varoiously of being "anti-semitic", "homophobic", "racist", and frankly a truly worthless human being:

In July 2010, it was alleged that Gibson had been recorded during a phone call with (pianist and mother of his child) Oksana Grigorieva suggesting that if she got "raped by a pack of niggers," she would be to blame.

So, yes, it's now very difficult to like Mel Gibson.....
