Penn Jones and Harold Weisberg still get trashed for "poor editing" and such. As well as others not of Simon & Schuster/Random House/Warner books and etcs helpful hands.
To me truth overbears any English errors. Whitewash and FMG will always find room on my bookshelf.
Editors can be functioning as gatekeepers too.
I do include both Chomsky and Zinn in that category. Though I really like Howard Zinn's People's History I note NOT ONE WORD about the murder of President John Kennedy. At least in the edition I have.
That is a gatekeeping function - isn't it.
