Maybe. Or maybe he was watched every night and when he had a rift with his wife, he was targeted with a 'pretty young thing' which was not expensive on his salary. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do, only, perhaps, the human thing....and an old trick/trap used widely by the intelligence [sic] community and their bosses.
