Yes, theoretically; but in Hasting's case his body was cremated [without permission] - so all evidence there destroyed; I believe the car is now gone and underwent no real forensic examination - certainly not one related to foul play [as the Police and officials ruled that out immediately]. The family could never get their day in Court and even if they could prove the car's computer was attacked, there is to my knowledge no way to prove who did it. It is now dangerous to buy the most up-to-date anything. I read an article where even a refrigerator with a computer chip inside could be used for foul play! America and the modern World have been hacked!

This technology is incredibly, ridiculously, dangerous because not only will the military-multinational-intelligence complex undoubtedly use it, but it will inevitably become available to old fashioned street criminals too.
If any modern car, with a computer under the bonnet, can be remotely controlled by anyone with the technical knowledge and hostile intent, then we're fucked.
