In astrology nuclear energy and weapons etc come under the planet Pluto/scorpio and eighth house. Though it is now a satellite again and no longer a planet. Make me wonder how they will find other life in the universe when they can't even work out some thing as basic as that so close to home. But I digress.

I studied astrology a very, very long time ago, but wasn't really proficient in it. I had, however, the good fortune to send a brief period of time in Zurich with an elderly Jungian (in her Nineties) who had been taught directly by Jung and who specialised in astrological and tarot analysis (sounds weird, I know, but Jung himself was a big fan of the I-Ching as a divination tool as an adjunct to synchronicity).

But hey, Hassan! The 8th House is commonly known as the "House of Sex"! What going on I want to know? ::laughingdog::
It's also the house of death. Crime. Secrets. Surgeons. Stock brokers. Bankers. Chemists. Drug dealers. Tax collectors. Prostitutes. Detectives. Firemen. Undertakers. Antique dealers. ::fortuneteller:: Lots of deep political territory there.

At one time there was no Virgo or Scorpio. Before there were the 12 houses in astrology there was one big serpent whose name I've forgotten. But you can still see it in the glyph of virgo and scorpio, virgo being the head of the serpent and scorpio being the lower half, with the genitals and tail. In the story of the serpent it was cut in half and Libra keeps the balance between the two.

yep, Ophiuchus - the serpent bearer - the 13th sign of the zodiac and associated with Aescupalias the Greek God of healing. The serpent was regarded as a potent symbol of healing and regeneration because of it's ability to shed its skin. Don't really like the little fuckers myself, as I sort of got bitten by one once (a story for another time), but it is a very interesting critter in certain native American cultures and, in fact, has been worshipped around the world - from Hindu to Nordic - since time immemorial.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
