[Written with the caveat that I have not read the book, and I base these comments upon the article linked in the OP and the video version of the interview.]
Sabato deserves no credibility from any thinking person.
How the hell can he justify his comments? He says that the conclusions of the WC were right, despite the fact that the processes were flawed, they were lied to by the CIA, and the conclusions were a political conclusion, they didn't run down the "hot leads" - and yet they were right! How? Divine inspiration?
And further, "Oswald acted alone" and what? The phoney "secret service" guys were a coincidence? Credentials good enough to fool a DPD officer? This wasn't some routine traffic stop - the president had just been shot. The officer concerned (Smith?) would have had a good look at those credentials. Today, we know that the CIA were producing SS IDs. He says the CIA lied to the WC. Why would the CIA lie to the WC? To be fair, maybe he covers this in the book.
Today, we know that Ford "moved" the back wound to a place where it could not have caused the wounds as per the SBT.
And more from the ARRB which Sabato doesn't even mention.
I think the best way I can explain it is this: the LN theory is a chain. One broken link and the theory fails. The hypothesis that there was a conspiracy is more akin to a rope. Even if one strand fails - even if Sabato is correct that the acoustic evidence is wrong - the rope still has many many strands.
I look forward to a review by Jim DiEugenio either here or on CTKA.
