Some critics have questioned whether the mounting of the telescopic sight on the left side of the rifle was really a mounting designed for a left-handed person. Oswald was right-handed, but the HSCA found that the mounting on the left side "was done as a matter of necessity because the bolt action is on the right side." [13]

I think the left-hand scope thing is a myth. It was offset that way because of the bolt-action and top-loading of the rifle. Wasn't the partial palm print found under the wooden stock, which means it was placed there when it was disassembled?
