And the US Military regularly buys $1000+ toilet seats [of plastic, not gold-plated!].....et al. These are NOT mistakes. They are built into the system....when it comes to expensive weapons systems or large amounts of ammunition and/or bombs/rockets/etc., padding the costs or cutting corners on the specifications [to the point that systems sometimes do NOT work] is par. Its big money for some! From all angles, the military and wars keep deep pockets DEEP! War is only hell for the soldiers and hapless civilians - its pure heaven for the politicians and those who profit from supplying war materials and services.
