I think one reason Israel was so friendly with the Apartheid regime in South Africa was because they faced the same demographic problem: a minority ruling over a majority with a higher birth rate. The Israelis have a well-documented history of ruthlessness when dealing with anyone threatening their hold on their "God-given land," including murdering their fellow Israelis like Yitzhak Rabin.
It's a very short-sighted way to rule, because eventually the demographic problem will spell the end of the Jewish state.
